Nespresso Going Miles with Recyclable Coffee

Our dependency on coffee shots is growing stronger with each passing day but the problem is the whole process in developing coffee pods is not environmentally friendly.

As research was done by a British producer of compostable coffee capsules, which concluded that every minute 39,000 of these pods are made around the world and 29,000 of these are thrown and become part of landfills. Now, that part was surely alarming.  But Nespresso found a way to tackle this hiccup. So, the question is,

Who said coffee pods aren’t sustainable for the environment or that they can cause a pile-up in our environment’s already existing landfills?

Here are a few research-based points that prove that coffee pods are not harming our environment and how Nespresso is responsible for the brilliant idea behind this by following the three core principles in making the Mother Earth habitable.

During the ongoing research, it was found that single capsules weren’t doing any good to the environment, but guess what, pouring morning coffee or coffee at any time of the day is sustainable for the environment. According to new research, recyclable aluminium pods are more environmentally friendly than all other capsules, whether they are made from plastic or compostable materials thus Nespresso ensured that all their capsules make it from Original Line or Vertuo Line will be made using 80% recycled aluminium.

According to scientific research, aluminium is one of the most environmentally friendly metals because of its sustainability. As the most recyclable industrial material, aluminium can be recycled infinitely to produce the same product. Recycling aluminium also saves 95% of the energy used in its production from raw materials.

Nespresso is the one to use this scientific theory and use it practically so that coffee consumption can be guilt-free.

As aluminium used today has multiple functional and environmental benefits, that makes it an obvious choice for Nespresso’s capsule, as it assures to preserve the freshness of the aroma and taste their coffee guarantees to have. Not only that, aluminium acts as a barrier against the harsh outside environment thus saving the coffee contents from sunlight, humidity and air.

75% of the aluminum ever produced is still in use today. That’s because it’s durable and there is no limit to how many times it can be reprocessed. Aluminum has the power of being recycled without limit, and can also be recast to different forms without losing its original properties. Nespresso’s capsules have the capability to become another capsule. Repeatedly.
